God Start

GodStart aims at reminding parents how much they and their children are loved by God; reassuring them that they are important members of the parish community and the wider community of God’s people, where they can find support and companionship.

As part of St Kevin’s Parish Welcome, we have a program called “GodStart” which your child will automatically be included in when Baptised here, at St Kevin’s Parish. GodStart is a CatholicCare initiative developed to support parishes and families in the beginning stages of their children’s faith.
The purpose of the group is:
†      To Create a link between the Parish and families of pre-school children
†      To remind parents of how much they and their children are loved by God
†      To help parents teach their children about the love of God.
Current Activities
Six Parish volunteers visit approximately 44 children who have been baptized at St Kevin’s Parish. Visits occur on the children’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th birthdays.
On the First and Second birthdays, the children receive birthday cards. For the third birthday they receive three activity cards and on the fourth birthday the children receive an activity card and small prayer book to encourage regular prayer within the family.
The cards and books are produced by the Archdiocese and are paid for by the Parish.
The principals of St Kevin’s and St Charles Catholic Primary Schools are invited to call in and meet the parents to help in asking questions and a meet & greet for future school enrolments.
We look forward to welcoming your child into GodStart and assisting with their journey into a relationship and loving embrace with God.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
