Safeguarding Children, Young People

and Vulnerable Persons

Commitment to Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

In the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne, we consider the safety and well-being of all persons to be our highest priority.

We acknowledge and follow a code of conduct which takes into account the needs of all children and young people; supporting the inclusion of children and young people with a disability; from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds; same-sex attracted, intersex and gender diverse children and young people; and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people to promote their safety and well-being and promote their participation.

Clergy, employees and volunteers are committed to upholding the right to safety of all persons, and participating in a creating a culture of safety supported by policies, practices and procedures that strive to prevent abuse in the first instance and to respond appropriately and effectively if abuse does occur.

Here, at St Kevin’s Parish with the support from the Archdiocese of Melbourne, we strive to create an inclusive and welcoming Church which enables its people to grow and develop in their faith free from abuse, harm and neglect.
All Parish volunteers are required to obtain Working With Children Checks (WWCC) for all people who volunteer in any capacity of our Parish – including Aged Care for the protection of our elderly and vulnerable community.
